Prof. Tova Lifshitz

Professor Tova Lifshitz is a graduate of the Sackler Faculty of Medicine, Tel Aviv University.

She completed her ophthalmology fellowship at Soroka Medical Center, Beer Sheva. She then completed a fellowship at the Groote Schuur hospital in Cape Town, South Africa and an additional fellowship in the field of corneal diseases and surgery at the University of South Florida. 

Since 1996 Professor Lifshitz has served as Director of the Ophthalmology Department at the Soroka Medical Center and has been training and educating generations of medical students within the department. 

Professor Lifshitz is an expert ophthalmologist, performing cataract, corneal and corneal transplant surgeries as well as refractive laser surgery for the removal of glasses. 

She has carried out thousands of surgeries in these fields and has led the development of advanced surgical techniques in ophthalmology. 

Professor Lifshitz is the Director of Ophthalmology for Clalit Health Services (HMO) in the South of Israel and in this role has advanced the integration of Ophthalmology in the region with the cooperation between Soroka Hospital and the local community. 

This has improved the level of eye care for the residents of the south of Israel to a high degree of uncompromising excellence. 

Professor Lifshitz has published many articles on ophthalmic disease and surgery, specializing in corneal pathology, refractive surgery and cataract. 

In the year 2000, Professor Lifshitz established The Center for Laser Glasses Removal and between the years 2006 - 2010 served as Chair of the National Department of Refractive Surgery. 

In 2003 she received the James and Ahuva Desnick Chair at Ben Gurion University, which she still is to this day. 

In 2006, she was appointed as Associate Professor at Ben Gurion University and in 2010 was appointed as a Professor. 

Professor Lifshitz, together with others, founded and established the multidisciplinary Medical Center "Sheva Enaim" where residents of the south of Israel benefit from the highest level of medical care in multiple fields of medicine. 

She is the Medical Director of this center and it is here that she carries out laser glasses removal surgery as well as many other eye operations.
